Hanggang tanaw na lang ba tayo?Social class is the stuff of soap operas and movies. But its effects are very much pervasive and consequential in our lives. The pandemic has exacerbated the huge gap between the rich and the poor and has exposed the inequalities that we rarely talk about.In this second instalment of the Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino and Psychological Association of the Philippines - Social Psychology Division collaboration, we invited three panelists -- Dr. Mary Daganzo, Mr. Cookie Relis, and Ms. Ash Presto -- to share some of their ideas on social class and hopefully inspire more social psychological research on this topic. Mary will talk about the development and potential applications of her Socioeconomic Status-based Constraints Scale. Cookie will share his very timely research proposal where he argues that the type of help the upper class enact in post-disaster contexts potentially perpetuates the pre-existing inequalities in helping relations.
